The World Construction Championship III will take place in Saint-Petersburg in October

The World Construction Championship III included into the President platform named "Russia, the Opportunity Country" will take place in Saint-Petersburg from 17th till 20th of October, 2023. This was announced by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, Mr. Irek Faizullin, further to the federal Championship Organization Committee.

On 10th of March there was the meeting of the federal World Construction Championship Organization Committee chaired by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, Mr. Irek Faizullin. After the meeting there were agreed the dates and venues to conduct the World Construction Championship III.

During his speech, Mr. Irek Faizullin highlighted that the World Construction Championship had already become the well-known event where participants can have comprehensive discussion of current questions related to the construction industry and evaluate skills' level of the professional and young specialists.

"Last year, the World Construction Championship involved over 6 thousand people having arrived from 24 countries. I am sure this year's Championship will keep engaging construction industry members from Russia and friendly countries, who will also participate in the business program, visit the exhibition space, and take part in the competitions. This year there will be new scopes involving school students and civil engineering professionals."

Mr. Irek Faizullin also added that despite the current social and political situation, President's support and proper work of regional Russia's teams allowed achieving good results within the utility sector and construction industry in 2022.

In turn, during the meeting, Director of capital investments, state construction supervision and state expertize in Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, Mr. Gennady Sakharov, noted that the Championship acted as the platform for open discussion among construction leaders.

“This event is intended to unite industry members for not just exchanging world's best practices related to industrial construction but also for arranging long-term business relations. Normally, the Championship zones act as places to conclude large contracts and take key decisions related to the construction industry."

He also outlined that Rosatom's team became the leader for awarded prizes following the Championships in 2021 and 2022. The Organizing Committee Secretary and Director of development in the construction complex of Rosatom’s CEMCP, Mr. Andrey Golovanov, has announced the results of 2022 and development concept for 2023.

According to the first Deputy General director of the President's platform named "Russia, the Opportunity Country", Mr. Alexey Agafonov, the construction industry requires stable human resources.

"Professional human resources are especially needed in Russia's new regions: Donbas republics, Kherson Oblast, and Zaporozhe Oblast. Championship Organizers' shared goal is to let its best members become a part of the stable human resources required in our construction industry. At the moment we take a direct part in involving of highly qualified professionals in the construction sphere. For example, at last year's World Construction Championship II, our platform opened the Center for Evaluation and Development of Competences together with the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering for the benefits towards the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation."

The members discussed the project related with the World Construction Championship III, submitted new ideas, agreed the prize fund, and finalized the latest list of competitive nominations.

Following the discussion, it was decided to let competitors meet in 25 individual and team nominations that would be divided into 3 categories: construction, engineering, and project management. Five new nominations were introduced following the special contest evaluated by the judges. Total prize fund of the World Construction Championship III will amount over 52.5 million rubles.

The business program of the Championship will be arranged with consideration of the current economic situation; while the program contents will reflect actual industry issues that shall be resolved in the nearest future. The multimedia exhibition will be represented by leading construction enterprises including small and medium scale companies engaged in the construction sector.

The members of the federal Organization Committee checked the results of previous contests for the right to hold the World Construction Championship, and then identified the winner. The Championship 2023 will take place in so called northern capital of Russia, Saint-Petersburg. The event will be located in the "Expoforum" exhibition center.

It is worth reminding that the World Construction Championship was established in February of 2020 by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation and State Atomic Energy Corporation. The original event took place in April of 2021 in Sochi, Russia. The second Championship took place in 2022 in Kazan. Since 2022, the Championship has been included into the project line supported by the President’s platform named “Russia, the Opportunity”.
