Ekaterinburg hosted a panel discussion «Industrial construction as a driver for economic growth» as part of the 7th International Forum and Exhibition of High-rise and Unique Construction 100+ Forum Russia organized by the Russian Ministry of Construction. During the event participants discussed the potential for expansion of industrial construction projects in Russia and tools to achieve it.
Vladimir Yakushev, Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, opened the discussion. He highlighted that industrial construction remains a factor of stability within the country and continues to contribute to the formation of a positive image of Russia abroad.
The Head of the Ministry of Construction of Russia noted that reduction of professional skills of specialists remains the central problem when contrasted with renovation and transformation of the industry.
The construction complex is traditionally one of the main drivers of the economy. Against the background of the current global challenges, renovation and transformation of the industry in recent years, it is impossible to ignore the key growth problems associated with the decline in the level of professional skills of industry specialists
According to the Minister, it is important to continuously improve skills and develop competencies of employees.
«Consolidation of the expert community at various platforms and their joint efforts with the Ministry of Construction of Russia is focused on increasing the global competitiveness of the country, increasing productivity and growth in exports of construction services,» – the head of the Ministry of Construction of Russia stressed.
To achieve these goals, the Ministry and ROSATOM instigated an World construction championship with finals to be held in April 2021 in Sochi.
Right after the Minister's speech, Andrey Golovanov, Development Director at ROSATOM CEMCP, spoke about the construction complex of the nuclear industry and the World Construction Championship.
«The driver of any development is, first of all, people, particular workers and managers. Their professionalism and energy help to develop countries, cities, industries and companies, and implement large-scale projects.
ROSATOM is a company about the people, thanks to whom it can today hold leading positions in the world in many aspects. ROSATOM has one of the largest construction complexes in the country, and more than two hundred construction projects are implemented annually,» the expert said.
One of the development elements of the construction complex workers qualification is the industry Professional Skills Contest (held since 2013). And in February this year on its basis, the Ministry of Construction of Russia and ROSATOM established the World Construction Championship.
The Championship is aimed at training, self-fulfilment and development of professional skills of the industry workers. This event introduces new production ties, new chains of contractors, international cooperation of leaders in the industrial construction market.
The event has already been supported by the largest Russian companies, such as SIBUR, RusHydro, Russian Railways, and TMK. Partners of the championship are the leading Russian and international organizations: the Eurasian Economic Commission, the CIS Executive Committee, NPO «Russia – Land of Opportunity» and the Russian Youth National Organization «Russian Students' Teams».
I am convinced that in the coming years, the World Construction Championship will become a unique platform that will break down any barriers to economic cooperation, facilitate the development of international cooperation of participating countries and construction companies
The Russian Ministry of Construction and ROSATOM are also successfully implementing the road map for joint partnership aimed at harmonizing the legal framework and developing a transparent mechanism of control over public investments. Joint efforts are being made to introduce information technologies and remote methods of construction control and monitoring of construction projects. Important issues of human resource capacity building and development of student construction teams’ movement are under consideration.
This is to remind that the International Forum and Exhibition 100+ TechnoBuild are held annually with the support of the Ministry of Construction of Russia and the Government of the Sverdlovsk region in Ekaterinburg. The event is the largest Russian engineering and construction congress that features a forum and an exhibition of the latest technologies and developments in the construction industry.
